bonding time!
yesterday night, the team had a dinner meeting at Dencio's:) it was actually the second time that we had a dinner meeting there at the said place. pearl really loves the food there, and take note, Pinoy foods huh! this dinner was held as celebration of the success of the interschool debate competition last saturday, march 14.
yeah, speaking about the competition, it was really a success! adjudicators still came from ADC - Mr. Rafael Lozada, and Ms. Kristine Uy. the latter actually is the best speaker in davao city and 3rd in the whole Philippines. WOW MOM! see that?! iba ang kalibre nya brad!!! we were of course very honored to have them as our adjudicators. it's a bit shy though. i mean, we were obviously novice in this field, and though it was already our second time to debate, still we are not that equipped or skilled enough. but through their help, we'd be able to develop ourselves and be one of the best also! [hope soo0o0o0!] there were only 4 teams and so the first round was automatically called as the semi-finals counting ourselves as semi-finalists! who0o0t:] the first round was done in 2 rooms - in room 1 (AVR 1), the battle was between the Lamp Team and the mix-match team of BSN and Education. the Lamp was composed of kyua felix tampos, mary joy and ivy. the mix-match team was composed of me, stuart and ralph. lamp was the govt and we were the opp.in the other room, the battle was BSN-to-BSN...BSN 2j vs BSN 2f. 2j was composed of glaizel, kerry and peggy whilt the other bsn team members were not that familiar to me. we all argued on the same motion: "TH regrets the government's encouragement of Filipino workers to find jobs abroad." indeed debatable. in the end of the semifinals, lamp won over us. they deserved the victory in this round. they were really good in presenting points. im not saying that our team did no good in debating, it's just that lamp's team was better this time. on the other hand, BSN 2j(opp) won over BSN 2f(govt). the moment of truth - final round. the match was between lamp and bsn 2j. the motion was about blaming the major fast food chains of the increasing number of obese people. whoah! interesting! well, i will no longer state what exactly happened. awarding na... lamp won the best team, and it was also from the said team that the best speaker came from - kuya felix tampos. congratxx! but the champion? who0o0o0o, none other than the opp team, bsn 2j! haha. we cant really believe that it was glaizel's team who had the victory in the end! :)) well. congrats to all!
going back to the bonding time we had last night, it was a short while though. unlike the first dinner that we had together, this one's really shorter. i needed to go home early [you know na.] but i didnt want to spoil the night and so i let them stay there and cherish the rest of the time. i went ahead. bidding goodbyes. bye guys:) thank you for the time.
you know, stuffs like this is fun! aside from being a member of the debating team - speaking, arguing, etc - i also am gaining new friends out of this. and so it makes me think na parang 'i belong.' haha. char!

my so called FRIENDS :)
we all have these people in our life that know who we really are [aside of course from our family], what makes us happy, what makes us simply sad, etc etc etc...
they are our so called FRIENDS!
wayback in elementary, i already have peers. we call our selves SIS. as in sisters! we were 3 then - myself, sis alexis and coco!
we were so childish then but we enjoyed those times that we would eat together, go outside together and even make laag together.
but mind you, we were not the kind of barkada that would do such naughty things huh. ^^
grade 6 - we formed another group. actually it was just an extension of the sis!
gwen and ellen were added reviving the prior name we had created in grade 5 - CHOLE LIENKS!
it was so happy to think that all of us were in the same high school! whoo0o0ot:)
we were all classmates during our 1st year except for coco. but we still see each other, hanging around with each other and doing stuffs like chika2!
as we went on being high school students, there were new adventures, new faces, new buddies!!! yes! our circle of friends just got big!
2nd year - all of us became classmates in the 1st section! so so happy:)
we met new friends. we got even closer to our schoolmates in elementary jane and mich!
3rd year - another group was formed by the name PIXIES!
pixies are the tiny fairies in the animated series "Winx"..
we were 8, and the 8 of us are the small ones in the class so that's why it's pixies!
members are: me - hann, xinkai, gwen, coco, joy2, ipets, jane, and mich! [these are our nicknames by the way]...
our bonding was really great! we may not go out frequently but it's the feeling that we all know, no matter what happens, we will still be friends...we won't care for what others say about us or about one of us, as long as we know what the truth is, it's fine.
even now that we are studying in different colleges, we still have communication with each other. joy who's now in canada calls up every now and then. i miss US! as in i miss the way we talk, the way we laugh together, make faces, make fun of our mistakes and stuffs like that! it's awesome!
i have other friends also who are not members of pixies...i have tabah, b1, biboi, vincent baboi, mercz, asay, and others. and of course, my dearest classmates in the entire high school years - the RIZALITES! [i take the name rizalites because we were best known by that name - it came from our section in 4th yr which is Rizal!]
i miss everybody :]

whta's with my name?
names...names...names!
whatever be our names, they have their own "history" of coming into being -
some were combinations of the parents' names, others were from famous personalities, others were just mere products of the extreme imagination of people! funny how it
seems...
my name's HANNAH :) ...it may sound too common, but it does have a background of its own. it was my parents who gave me this name. the idea came from the Hannah in the Bible. the name was mentioned in the Book of Samuel. Hannah, according to the Hebrew Bible, was the mother of Samuel. The Hebrew word "Hannah" has many meanings and interpretations such as beauty or passion. that was the biblical meaning of Hannah.
of course, i like my name. i'm known by this one! H-A-N-N-A-H!
i also thought that Hannah could be spelled simply as "hana" - which actually has a lot
interpretations also. Hana is the Korean word for "One" and the Japanese word for "Flower".
well, that would be all... ^^

thought you'd like it too!
i have received this text message from a friend last march 1 (sunday).
i was really touched by the meaning of this quote:
"life's like a piano - the white keys represent the happiness and the black keys show sadness... but as you go through life's journey, you'll find out that the black keys make music too!"
>>got the sense?
it's so meaningful:)
so inspiring..
it's like telling us that no matter what life brings us, it still makes a wonderful sound, we just have to jive with it...
God bless everyone!!!

an experience to remember:]
yesterday was a day full of learning...
feb 25, 2009 was the when the 1st debate seminar workshop was held at brokenshire college (avr 2 to be specific)..
the speakers were from the Ateneo Debate Community (ADC) of ADDU. there were a lot of them who attended the said activity but only 2 were the speakers - joanne and marvin ty. joanne is actually ADC's senior adjudicator, and...i forgot what marvin's role was...basta, he was very good as well! by the way, adjudicator means a judge in a debate competition..hehe, a new thing learned:)
we had real fun though nervous and pressured at times...
the entire populace was divided into 2 groups - one to stand for the government (the affirmative side); and the other to stand for the opposition (the negative side)..
by chance, i was a part of the (+) side..hehe. i was with jylo, glaizel, my fellow educ studes and other participants...
there would be an exercise debate, of course, to see how far have we gone in just a couple of hours of seminar...
who0o0ot! supposedly, it was arlyn's team to be the representative of the (+) side,
but it ended up with me, jylo and glaizel as the debaters for the Government's side.
wow! i was like "HELLO? WHAT AM I GONNA DO THERE?!"...
it was really my first time to involve myself in such exercise...i was indeed nervous! i didn't know what would be my role, what would be the things i were to say, stuffs like that! but thank god, all was settled... i was the Deputy Prime Minister, the 2nd speaker next to the Prime Minister, jylo was the PM and glaizel was the Govt. whip, the last speaker...
wow mom! it was not an easy match! the opposition was also good in speaking and presenting data! bang!!! what a clash!
oh well, at the end of the day, what matters is that we all had a lot of things learned in the seminar...not just that, we also gained new friends:)
though the other ADC members held criticisms against us, the novice debaters, it was really OK! through that, we will be able to improve our selves in the field of debating! thank god for this chance:)
>>>who0o0t! after the seminar was a lot of food trip!
wuaaaaaaaaaah! we headed dencios! whew!
with pearl, glaize, jylo and peggy...if im not mistaken, it's peggy:)
great time!!!
^^all smiles!

why did i choose this course?
hello buddies!!!
I'm presently a college freshman at Brokenshire College taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education. Now, if you would ask me why did i choose this field...I would say, I chose this track because it has always been my passion to teach. I could still remember when I was young, I used to utilize the walls of our house to write something on them using a piece of chalk. I would talk and talk as if a crowd of students were listening to me when in fact there was not a single person there. It was really my past time before. Another reason also was the influence of my mother. She used to be a teacher in kindergarten but had an early retirement when i was born. She preferred to be a full time mom since we didn't have sufficient money to pay for a nanny while she was working. Since then, she has been my tutor, coach, trainer and professor. She molded me into becoming who I am now. Somehow, it built up the aspiration in me to follow her footsteps. Eventhough she has not finished her teaching profession, I think she's worth appreciating. Teaching may not be a highly-paid job, but it is a noble one! As a teacher, you are the molder of the young minds leading them to be who they can become in the future. As they say, no doctors, no businessmen, and no leaders will be around if not for these people who have exerted much efforts in the name of an existent service - TEACHERS.
I wanna be like them someday... In God's help, I will. ^^
